Brief information on National Museum of China  

National Museum of China was inaugurated on February 28th, 2003, under the direct auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China. Formed on the same basis as the National Museum of Chinese History and the National Museum of the Chinese Revolution, the National Museum of China is a comprehensive museum focusing on history and the arts, systematically chronically China’s long and rich history. ?

Charged with the tasks of archaeological excavation, collection, research and exhibition, the National Museum of China systematically and comprehensively collects and displays the many and varied treasured antiquities from China’s remote past, as well as contemporary pieces. Through its permanent and special exhibitions, National Museum of China presents and publicises China’s rich and varied culture and history, introducing its many wonders to both foreign and domestic visitors. The museum also places great emphasis on the study and research into history, archaeology, antiquities and museology, in order to both enrich and enhance people’s knowledge and understanding of history and culture, as well as improving the development of Chinese museums. The National Museum will continue to grow as an important public venue in the center of Beijing for cultural recreation and enjoyment.
