Brief information on Water Cube  

Located near the Bird’s Nest Stadium in the Olympic Green (on the western side of Jingguang Road), the National Aquatics Center, also known as the Water Cube, is a blue, crystal palace, giving the appearance of light-blue bubbles on the outside, perfectly displaying the beauty of water under various light conditions. ?

In contrast to the stark lines of the Bird’s Nest National Stadium, the Water Cube boasts soft, rounded contours. It is covered by an Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) membrane, designed to have high corrosion resistance and strength over a wide temperature range. In fact, the Water Cube is the largest ETFE-clad structure in the world. The comforting translucent blue light that shimmers from the building creates a tranquil and poetic sense of grace.
The glowing iridescence of the bubbles on the Cube’s outer walls is a truly memorable site-especially at night, and provides a wonderful stylistic foil to the nearby Bird’s Nest Stadium, making the Olympic Green a must-visit modern destination-alongside Beijing’s more venerable sites.
