Brief information on Golden Summit  

Golden Summit Scenic Area is the quintessential area of Emei Mountain, where many temples and spots are concentrated. As a wondrous sight-seeing platform and the biggest pilgrimage centre of Chinese Buddhists, it has been crowned as a scenic masterpiece in the Chinese World.

There is a rarity at the highest point of Golden Summit, named “Golden Summit Copper Hall”. Reportedly, Prince Zhu Mo, the 21st son of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang in the Ming Dynasty, sincerely believed in Buddhism, and he donated 150 kg of gold to build a golden hall at the highest point of Emei Mountain. For that reason, the tiles, pillars, doors and window lattices of the Hall are all made of copper and gold. Under the bright sunshine, the hall looks splendid in green and gold, from which comes the name “Golden Summit”. And the peak is also named Golden Summit for this reason.

Golden Summit is a spectacular place to visit for all the travelers to Emei Mountain. Here one can not only burn joss sticks, wandering into the Buddha’s world, but also can enjoy the splendid landscape, such as seas of clouds , splendid sunrises, mysterious Buddha Rays, and the wispy Saint Lamp. Standing on the top of this peak, one will have the feeling that the verse implies; "Looking over from the sheer summit, mountains are all small under one’s feet".
