| (1) Is electronic ticket used in China? | |
| Yes, electronic tickets are available in all China airlines. With an electronic ticket, you can travel just with a valid ID or passport and therefore eliminate the inconvenience of booking a paper ticket. | |
| (2) What are the baggage regulations for flights within China? | |
| Carry-on baggage: The maximum carry-on baggage allowance for each economy class passenger is just one article of 5kg and first-class passenger 2 separate articles of 5kg each. The article should be within 20×40×55cm, and if exceeded, an extra fee will be charged and it must be carried as checked baggage. Check-in baggage: If check together, 10 or more travelers in a group can combine their baggage allowance. Free baggage: Passengers in economy class can enjoy a free checked baggage allowance of 20kg and passengers in business class 30 kg. Infants are granted with no free baggage allowance. Checked baggage should be within 50kg and 40×60×100cm. For excess baggage, a rate of 1.5% of the full price of the economy fare per kg is charged. | |
| (3) What articles are limited on domestic flights in China? | |
| The following are all forbidden on domestic flights in China: flammable, corrosive, explosive, poisonous, radioactive, polymerizable and magnetized materials and other articles such as arms and lethal weapons. No lighter and matches should be put in carry-on baggage. Articles like knife, scissors and bottled or tinned alcohol or wine are required to be in check-in baggage. | |
| (4) When should I arrive at the airport so that I will have enough time for boarding? | |
| You are recommended to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before the departure time, because usually airlines stop checking-in 30-45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of flights. | |
| (5) Can I carry soft drinks with me on board planes? | |
| Yes, you can carry liquid articles, but there are some rules you must apply to, as listed hereunder: Personal alcohol both bottled and canned is forbidden, except spirits that is really necessary. The limited amount is no more than 2 bottles placed in checked baggage for each person each time. Liquid articles for special reasons are allowed to be carried, such as your liquid medicine if you are sick and drinking articles for an infant, after being opened, inspected and confirmed beyond doubt. | |
| (6) Can I request one window seat or aisle seat while booking the flight tickets? | |
| No, you can’t. But after getting your boarding card at the airport, you can try to ask the airplane staff for available window or aisle seats. | |
| (7) What should I do if my flight is cancelled or delayed? Who can I call for help? | |
| If your internal flight is cancelled or delayed, usually the airline company will make arrangement for you to stay overnight at the airport hotel and let you take another flight the following day. When such things occur, you should always contact us quickly and let us know what is happening. Then we’ll make contact with the airline to seek the best solution of your problem and next pick you up at the airport, make hotel accommodation, and arrange your tour accordingly. If your international flight is cancelled or delayed, you can contact us immediately so as to make necessary changes to minimize any trouble and inconvenience. | |
| (8) Can pregnant women fly on airplanes? | |
| There are no specific restrictions on women in their 7-month pregnancy or below, however for the sake of their health, pregnant women up to their 8th month of pregnancy or later are advised not to fly on airplanes. If they have to, two copies of their doctor’s permission letter is needed along with an application form submitted to the airline company. Only after receiving the approval of the airline can they take an airplane. Please be noted that different airlines may have different terms on this. | |
| (9) Is there any rule for booking a ticket for children and infants? | |
| As the Administration of Civil Aviation of China stipulated, children under 12 year olds should be accompanied by an adult in the age of 18 or above. However with the required documents provided, children aged between 5 and 12 year olds can apply for an unaccompanied service. As for Fuel Surcharge, an infant ticket that is 10% of the adult’s is free from it. In domestic flights,¥20 is charged for children for routes less than 800 kilometers and¥40 for routes of 800 kilometers or beyond. Both infants and children are exempt from the Airport Construction Fees. | |
| (10) Are seriously ill but not contagious patients allowed to fly? | |
| Yes, they are allowed to fly provided that they get the airline’s boarding approval when buying a ticket, which needs the written permission of their doctor. | |
| (11) Do I still need to pay Airport Tax now in china? | |
| No, you needn’t pay Airport Tax now because it is prepaid when issuing the tickets and is included in the airfare. But in the past you have to for each flight you take when you arrive at the airport. ¥50 is charged for each domestic flight and¥90 for each international flight. | |
| (12) What is the closing time for check-in on China domestic or international flights? | |
| The closing time of check-in on China domestic flights is 45 minutes before the departure time and on international flights 90 minutes prior to the departure, so you are kindly recommended to arrive for check-in at least 90 minutes before your domestic flight leaves and 3 hours in advance of the departure of your international flight. | |
| (13) What are child and infant ticket fare? | |
| Usually infants and children enjoy discounted fares offered by many airlines. The discount is based on the airline, flight and seat availability, so it varies according to your time of travel. Generally an infant ticket is 10% of the adult’s with no seat provided and a child ticket is required if the adult buys more than one infant ticket. Infants younger than 14 days are not permitted to fly on planes and infant tickets for domestic flights are bought at the airport through the airline companies. Children between the age of 2 and 12 can have a 50% discount of the full price. | |
| (14) Which types of identification documents shall be presented during check-in? | |
| A passport, your necessary visas and other valid travel documents must be presented during check-in. Please always make sure that these documents are taken along with you instead of being kept in your checked baggage. Note: The identification documents No. (e.g. your passport No., ID No.) must be in conformity with that you offered in the booking information. And your first and last name must be the same as the one stated in your valid identification documents. | |
| (15) What is an overweight baggage fee? | |
| The overweight baggage fee is usually 1.5% per kilogram for China domestic flights, and the charge is multiplied by the economy class. But the methods and rate to charge which airlines conform to vary from company to company. | |
| (16) What is the age limit for the unaccompanied children service? | |
| The age limit for the unaccompanied children services is between 5 and 12 year olds. You should request the service from the airline company in advance if your children need it, or the company may not be responsible for looking after your children. | |
| (17) Can I book flights to international destinations from Mainland China? | |
| Yes, you can book flights to international destinations from Mainland China, but please be noted that flights to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are also classified into international flights. | |
| (18) Can I book flights to Mainland China destinations from abroad? | |
| Normally you are suggested to book the far distance international flights in local agencies because in this way you can have better discount. | |
| (19) Can I take my pet flying with me? | |
| Yes, some airlines allow passengers to take their pets flying with them or treat the pets as unaccompanied baggage. Since rules may be different in accordance with your pet’s size, age and breed, we suggest you to look for more details by calling the airline directly. It will be better to apply to the airline at least three days prior to your flight and prepare relevant health certificates and other required documentation in case that they are demanded. | |
