China Travel Tips

Welcome to China! We are very happy to provide you some tips for your China travel, please read them and hope they will help you to experience a wonderful China trip.

(1) Do I need passport to travel to China?

A passport is always needed when you travel to another country. It is the legal certificate issued by your country that confirms your nationality and identity. A passport valid no less than 6 months is required for visitors to mainland China. So please make sure that your passport is up-to-date.

(2) What do you mean by passport photo?

A passport photo means a photo that is similar to the one in your passport, which is full-face and bareheaded with the correct dimension (2 “?2”) and background color (white). The Chinese consulate only accepts this kind of photo and any cut-outs from other personal photos are unaccepted.

(3) What is my passports function while I travel to China?

Your passport is needed when you buy air tickets, pass through customs, check in at hotels and take almost any journey that is officially recorded. What’s more, if you had an accident when traveling in China, Chinese officials would decide what to do for you and manage the accident well after confirming your nationality and identity. In addition, you can get help and diplomatic protection from the embassy or consulate of your country stationed in China. So do keep your passport safe along your visit.

(4) Is it allowed to travel abroad with a soon-to-expire passport?

No, you cannot travel abroad if your passport is about to expire. You must go to the relevant department to have your passport extended or renewed. The embassy or consulate will issue a visa to you only when your passport has a validity of at least 6 months.

(5) What should I do if I lost my passport in China?

First you should report the case to the local Public Security Bureau immediately. There you will get a proof of your lost passport, and then with the proof you should go to the nearest embassy or consulate of your country to apply for a new one. But this needs you to know the information previously recorded, to present proof of citizenship and to show your identification. In case of the inconvenience caused by the loss of your passport, we suggest that you have a photocopy of the first page of your passport or write down your passport number in a scratch pad in advance.
