Brief information on Erhai Lake

Located about two kilometers east of Dali,Erhai Lake is a famous plateau lake in Yunnan Province which with a height of 1,972 meters above sea level and covers an area of 148 square kilometers.
The lake got its name is because the shape of the lake just like a ear when overlooking from Cangshan Mountain. The lake is seldom polluted up till now hence got the beautiful name Erhai Lake . the lake like a immaculacy jade lying between Cangshan and Dali city when seeing from Cangshan Mount. In the sunny days, the scenery is especially beautiful, the crystal water of the lake and the snow of the Cangshan Mountain radiate with each other, make it like a splendid painting lying in the lake. Thus comes the saying, silver Cangshan Mountain and jade Erhai Lake.
The lake is surrounded by the famous Erhai Park, Xizhou Sea Heart Pavilion, Sea Tongue, Shuanglang and other beautiful scenic areas as well as three islands:Jinsuo, Chiwen and Yuji stand in the lake. Thus, it is worth for you to pay a visit to the surrounding islands, temples and villages. Hanging around the fishing village of Bai ethnic minority is a must when get to Erhai Lake, which will definitely give you a lasting memory in your life.
