Brief information on Mt. Cangshan  

Mt. Cangshan, also called Diancang Mountain, was once named Xiongcang Mountain and in ancient times was called Lingjiu Mountain. It is located in west of Erhai Lake, which enjoys great reputation for its snow, clouds, springs and marble. Mt. Cangshan is made of 19 peaks, the order from north to south, they are Yunnong, Canglang, Wutai, Lotus, White Cloud, Heyun, Sanyang, Lanfeng, Snowman, Yingle, Lord Kuan, Zhonghe, Longquan, Yuju, Malong, Shengying, Foding, Ma’er and Xieyang. The total length for these 19 peaks is about 50 kilometers, as a green barrier standing on the west bank of Erhai Lake. Each of them is 3,500 meters above the sea level, and the highest Malong Peak is 4,122 meters. There is a stream between every two peaks, water rushes down the mountain and pours into Erhai Lake. These streams originate from spring water or thawing snow and irrigate the farmlands around, thus got the name of the noted Eighteen Streams.
The Erhai Lake is surrounded by Mt. Cangshan, if you want to see the mountain more closer, you can take the cable car up to the Zhonghe Monastery.
Mt. Cangshan is also a famed factory for producing smooth marble, called Cangshan Stone, which is also the ideal choice for souvenirs. What’s more, the craftworks with ethnic flavor made of marble are sold home and abroad nowadays.
