Heyuan Overview:  Located at the northeast of Guangdong Province, upper and middle reaches of Dongjiang River, Heyuan is next to Meizhou in the east, to Huizhou in the south, to Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province in the north and borders Huizhou in the south. It is less than 200 kilometers away from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Covering an area of 15,800 square kilometers, Heyuan has a population of 3.3736.

Heyuan Climate & Weather:  Heyuan is a historic and cultural city in the northeast of Guangdong Province and by the influence of subtropical monsoon, the differences among the four seasons are apparent with general warmness and moistness. The temperature in Heyuan is a little bit higher whereas the rainfall here is a little bit less with much more sunshine. The yearly average temperature is 22.3℃ and the rainfall amount is between 1700mm and 1931mm.

Heyuan Transportation:

By Train:  Heyuan is the northeastern portal of Guangdong Province and Jing-Jiu Railway and Guang-Mei-Shan Railway are interacted here. Heyuan Train Station located at the northwest of the city and the train lines from Heyuan to Beijing, Zhengzhou, Hefei, Wuchang, Guangzhou, Jiujiang, Henyang and Yueyang are opened for use currently. The express train from Heyuan to Guangzhou and Shenzhen takes less than three hours

By Bus:  The bus transportation in Heyuan is of great convenience for He-Hui Highway, Yue-Gan Highway and He-Long Highway interact in Heyuan and No.105, No.205 National Highway runs through the whole city. To be more specific, No.105 starts at Beijing and ends at Zhuhai in Guangdong Province via Tianjin, Hebei Province, Shandong Province, Henan Province, Anhui Province, Jiangxi Province and Guangdong Province together 2717 kilometers. No.205 starts from Shanhaiguan Prefecture in Qinhuangdao pf Hebei Province and ends at Guangzhou in Guangdong Province via Hebei Province, Tianjin Province, Shandong Province, Jiangsu Province, Anhui Province, Zhejiang Province, Fujian Province and Guangdong Province together 3160 kilometers. And He (Heyuan)-Hui (Huizhou) Highway, Mei (Meizhou)-He (Heyuan) Highway, Heyuan-Ganzhou Highway and He-Long are all through the whole city.

Heyuan Bus Depot and Heyuan Public Bus Station as well as other bus stations are al located in Heyuan, which are at Yuanchengdaqiao Road and the North Side of Heyuan Road respectively. The bus lines from Heyuan to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Zhuhai have already been opened for use.

City Transportation: There are together 8 city bus lines in Heyuan and they all operate from 06:00am to 22:00pm. The bus stops in Heyuan pervade all around the city to places inside the city as well as the surrounding traveling attractions.

The flag-down fare for taxi in Heyuan is CNY5 and for operating motorcycle it is CNY2.

Water Transportation:  The main ports in Heyuan include Heyuan Port, Laolong Port and Guzhu Port. They opened the shipping lines from Heyuan to Dongguan and Guangzhou. Besides, Dongjiang River was able to transport 32 tons ships to Longchuan, Huizhou and Guangzhou.

Heyuan Food:  The dishes in Heyuan take Hakka dishes, which stress on fat, salty and ripe. Many dishes have the function of nourishing yin to lower fire, removing heat from the liver, improving eyesight, nurturing beauty and tonifying qi. Heyuan is national wide famed for its ten famed Hakka dishes: Hakka Style Braised Chicken in Gravy, Dongjiang Beancurd in Stuffed with Minced Pork, Strewed Pork, Chicken in Aspic, Mandarin Fish braised in Broth, Preserved Duck, Streamed Grass Carp, Stuffed Tri-treasure, River Prawn in Wine Sauce, and Potato Filament Pot.

Tourist Attractions:  Heyuan has a lot of tourism resources, among which the major attractions are Wanlv Lake Scenic Zone, which is extant largest evergreen broadleaves forest zone along tropic of cancer, the Highest Fountain in Asia artificially, which reaches the height of 169 meters, Dinosaur Ruins, which combines all of the dinosaur egg fossils, dinosaur skeleton fossils, and dinosaur footprint fossils together as the unique one in the world. Currently, the ruins of dinosaur footprint covers an area of 3 square kilometers, as well as 10,538 dinosaur egg fossils and 8 dinosaur skeleton fossils, which is honored “Hometown of Chinese Dinosaur” by Institute of Geology Chinese Academy of Geological Science. Besides, the amount of dinosaur egg fossils has broken the Guinness World Records.
