Guangdong Province Overview:  Located at the southernmost of Chinese Mainland, Guangdong Province is next to Fujian Province in the east and borders with Jiangxi Province and Hunan Province in the north, with Guangxi Province in the west and with South China Sea in the south. Moreover, the two sides of Pearl River Delta both border Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Region and Leichow Peninsula in the south part faces Hainan Province across Qiongzhou Straits. Covering an area of 179,800 square kilometers, the total island amount is only less than that of Zhejiang Province and Fujian Province, ranging the 3rd in China. Guangdong Province has a population of 91.94 million, which ranges the 3rd in China. From ancient times on, Guangdong is the earliest and largest province to deal with marine trade and immigrate and during modern time, it has eventually developed into an important home town of overseas Chinese.

Guangdong Province Climate & Weather:  Belonging to Eastern Asian monsoon region, from north to south, it is middle subtropical zone, south subtropical zone and tropical zone in Guangdong Province. It is one of the most abundant regions with sunshine, heat and water in China. The yearly average temperature is between 19℃ and 24℃ and the yearly average rainfall is between 1300mm and 2500mm.

Language in Guangdong Province:   The dialects in Guangdong Province are a little complicated for there is not only Yao Dialect, Zhuang Dialect, She Dialect from the ethnic groups in the north and east of Guangdong Province and some unnamable dialects in north of Guangdong Province, but three kinds of popular dialects: Yue Dialect, Hakka Dialect and Min Dialect. Yue Dialect is also called Guangdong Dialect and there are totally more than 38 million people using it whereas more than 14 million people use Hakka Dialect, which takes Meizhou Dialect as the representative. And Min Dialect mainly indicates Min Nan Dialect and about 12 million people take it as main language.  All the dialects are not easy to understand for Mandarin speakers.

Guangdong Province Transportation:

By Air:  Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, which is one of the three air traffic hub, Shenzhen Airport, Shantou Airport, Zhuhai Airport, Foshan Airport, Zhanjiang Airport and Meizhou Airport in Guangdong Province are able to provide flight lines to most cities in China, Hong Kong, and cities in Australia and Southeast Asia. Guangdong is the region with the densest airports in China.

By Train:  Jing (Beijing)-Guang (Guangdong Province) Railway, Jing (Beijing)-Jiu (Jiujiang) Railway, Li-Zhan and Large Jing-Jiu Railway link not only many main cities in China but cities in Guangdong Province, such as Guangzhou-Zhanjiang, Foshan-Chongqing, and Guangzhou-Shenzhen and so on. The railway transportation in Guangdong Province mainly based on Jing-Guang and Jing-Jiu Railway. Guangzhou station is the origins stop of Jing-Guang Railway whereas Shenzhen station, Guangzhou Eastern station and Dongguan Eastern station are the origin stops of Jing-Jiu Railway.

By Bus:  the traffic mileage in Guangdong Province leads the first in China and the highways in Guangdong include Guangzhou Round city Highway, Guangzhou-Huadu-Qingyuan, Guangzhou-Foshan-Sanshui, Guangzhou-Heshan-Kaiping, Guangzhou-Humen-Shenzhen, Shenzhen-Shanwei-Shantou, Humen-Shanwei-Shantou, Humen-Zhuhai, Shenzhen Airport-Yantian Port, and Shenzhen Longgang-Huizhou and so on. Seven National Highway, including No.105, No.106, No.107, No.205, No.321, No.324 and No.325 intersected at Guangzhou. Furthermore, dozens of buses operate from Guangzhou and cities in Pearl River Delta to Hong Kong and Macao every day.

Water Transportation:  Zhujiang is the second largest navigable river only next to Yangtze River in China. The passenger transportation lines from Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen and Zhuhai to Guangzhou, Zhaoqing and Wuzhou. Shantou Port is an important transit port between Hong Kong and Taiwan and there are regular passenger shipping lines to Hong Kong. Hai’an Port at the south side of Leichou Peninsula is the portal to link Mainland China to Hainan Island and there are dozens of passenger ships for 24 hours every day.

Guangdong Province Food:  Yue cuisine is the typical local dishes in Guangdong Province, which is one of the four styles of cooking in China, Yue cuisine is constitute by Guangzhou cuisine, Chaoshan cuisine, Dongjiang cuisine and Guangzhou cuisine is the main body and representative. The most distinctive feature in Yue cuisine is snakes cuisine and tea cake.

Major Guangdong Province Tourism Resources:  Located at subtropical area, Guangdong Province is mild in climate and therefore suitable for traveling. The six historic and cultural cities, Guangzhou, Foshan, Chaozhou, Meizhou and Leichou all have their own unique points in cultural relics and historic spots.

Tourist Attractions:  Guangdong Province has a lot of tourism resources, among which the major attractions are Dynomite Fossil in Nanxiong Shiyu Prefecture, Ancient Ruins of “Maba People” before one hundred thousand years ago in Qujiang Prefecture, Zhaoqing Seven Star Crags, Danxia Mountain in the north Guangdong Province, Xiqiao Mountain along China South Sea, Luofu Mountain in Boluo, Dinghu Mountain in Zhaoqing. Besides, the four major gardens in Lingnan in the Qing Dynasty including Shunde’s Qinghui Garden, Panyu’s Yuyin Garden, and Ke Garden in Dongguan and Liang’s Garden in Foshan City. And also numerous bathing beaches along thousands of kilometers coast may bring excellent experience to travelers.
