Qingyuan Overview:  Located at the middle north of Guangdong Province, the middle reach of Bac Giang, the conjunction of the south side of Nanling and Pearl River Delta, Qingyuan borders with Guangzhou and Foshan to the south, with Hunan Province, Guangxi Province to the north, next to Shaoguan in the east and northeast and links Zhaoqing in the west and southwest. And therefore, it is called “Back Yard Garden of Pearl River Delta”. Covering an area of 19,000 square kilometers, Qingyuan has a population of 3.934 million, in which, the ethnic groups’ covers 168,000. It is the main agglomeration for ethnic groups in Guangdong Province.

Qingyuan Climate & Weather:  By the influence of Southern subtropical monsoon climate, Qingyuan is moist and warm all the year around with plentiful rainfall. The yearly average temperature is 20.7℃ and yearly average sunshine hour is 1662.2 hours as well as annual average rainfall amount of 1900mm. The rainfall season in Qingyuan starts from Apr. and ends at Sep. and therefore, it is best for travelers to go to Qingyuan all the year round.

Language in Qingyuan:  Qingyuan has its own dialect which belongs to Guangdong dialect. It’s not easy to understand for Mandarin speakers.

Qingyuan Transportation:

By Train:  Jing (Beijing)-Guang (Guangzhou) Railway runs through the east of Qingyuan and it is also the unique railway in Qingyuan. And the trains from Qingyuan to Beijing, Guangzhou, Changsha, Chongqing and Wuchang are available. In this case, Qingyuan is the main drag in the railway traffic of the north part in Guangdong Province.

By Bus:  Jing(Beijing)-Zhu (Zhuhai) and Guang (Guangzhou)-Qing (Qingyuan) Highway as well as No.106, No.107 and No.323 National Highway runs through the north and south of Qingyuan and the bus lines from Qingyuan to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Foshan, Zhongshan and Meizhou are available for passengers everyday.

City Transportation: There are together 22 bus lines in Qingyuan and there is a special travel bus line from the gymnasium to Taihe Park via the bus station, Feilai Lake.

The flag-down fare for taxi in Qingyuan is CNY4, CNY2 per kilometer after the first 3 kilometers.

Qingyuan Food:  The cuisine in Qingyuan take Yue cuisine as its main part and Chuan cuisine, Lu cuisine as well as northeastern cuisine are all available here. Local delicacies include Lianzhou Fried Intestine, Dongpo Dumplings, Chicken Clay Pot and Jiulong Beancurd. Besides the cuisines, the snacks in Qingyuan are also featured, such as Plain Chicken, Mashed Tea Gruel and Sha Hefen (Rice Noodles).

Tourist Attractions:  Qingyuan has a lot of tourism resources, among which the major attractions are ancient architectural complex Feixia Scenic Zone which is the largest ancient architectural complex in Guangdong Province, Qingxin Sankengwen Mineral Spring, which is the largest volume and best quality spring in Guangdong Province with AAAA Class, the highest peak Yangshan Shikengkong in Guangdong Province, the longest subterranean river Lianzhou Subterranean in Guangdong Province, Liannan Yao Ethnic Group Regime. Qingyuan was honored “Hometown of Drifting in China”, “Hometown of Hot Spring in China” and “Hometown of Dragon Boat in China” by China.
