Shaoguan Overview: Located at the south side of Nanling Mountain, Shaoguan borders Guangzhou in the south and Hunan Province and Jiangxi Province in the north. It is the north gate of Guangdong Province as well as the conjunction of Guangdong Province, Hunan Province and Jiangxi Province. Covering an area of 18,463 square kilometers, Shaoguan has a population of 3.187 million.

Shaoguan Climate & Weather: By the influence of Middle subtropical moist monsoon climate, Shaoguan in under the monsoon influence all the year round and therefore, the feature of the four seasons is rainy spring, dry fall, cold winter and hot summer. The yearly average temperature is between 18.8℃ and 21.6℃ with sufficient rainfall of 1400mm to 2400mm.
Language in Shaoguan: Shaoguan has its own dialect which belongs to Guangdong dialect. It’s not easy to understand for Mandarin speakers.
Shaoguan Transportation: As an important transportation hub in the Pan Pearl River Delta, Radiation Inland of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong, Shaoguan has the advanced railway, road and water transportation.
By Train: Jing (Beijing)-Guang (Guangzhou) Railway runs through the whole city and as the first class station on Jing-Guang Railway, all trains stop at Shaoguan. There are more than 200 trains stopping or starting at Shaoguan everyday, including the express trains between Shaoguan and Shenzhen, Shaoguan and Guangzhou.
By Bus: Latitudinal Jing (Beijing)-Zhu (Zhuhai) Highway, No.105, No.106, No.107 National Highway and transmeridional No.323 National Highway shortened the driving time from Shaoguan to Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen greatly and it takes only about two hours to get the destinations.
City Transportation: There are totally 14 city bus lines in Shaoguan operating form 06:00am to 21L00pm for CNY1 per person. And the No.12 and No.13 circle city bus lines are designed for travelers to have a sight of the city.
The flag-down fare for taxi in Shaoguan is CNY4 and CNY1.6 per kilometer after the first 3 kilometers during daytime and CNY5 of flag-down fare during night (after 21:00pm).
Shaoguan Food: Due to the fact that more than 30 ethnic groups resident in Shaoguan, the cuisine in Shaoguan is influenced greatly by them and took the advantages of all of them. Local delicacies include Stir-fried Shankeng Snail, Hakka Braised Pork, and Stewed Duck with Sour Bamboo Shoots.
