Brief information on Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family  

The Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family, located at Zhongshan Qi Lu (Zhongshan Seventh Road), Road, is a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit and is the oldest, largest and best-preserved still-standing artistic building in Guangdong Province.  Today, it is called Guangdong Folk Arts Museum. In 2002, the Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family was elected as one of the Top Eight Sights in Guangzhou.

The Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family, built in twelfth year of Emperor Guangxu’s reign, consists of 19 buildings of many different sizes. The architectural ornaments vary from woodcarvings, brick carvings and pottery sculptures. Together, they   represent the very best of Guangdong folk decorative art.
