Brief information on Sacred Heart Cathedral  

Sacred Heart Cathedral, located in downtown Guangzhou, was finished after 25 years of construction and is now the greatest and the best cathedral in Guangzhou. Since it is made of granite, the Sacred Heart Cathedral is also called the ‘Stone Cathedral’.

The cathedral is 35 meters wide, 78.69 meters long and 58.5 meters high. It is in the gothic architectural style and some say it is as good as the Cathedral of Notre Dame, Paris. At present, many believers and tourists from all over the world come to visit Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Lofty pinnacles rise on the east side of a bell tower with four large brass bells. Inside the cathedral, your eyes fall upon the arched dome, the traceries, the colorful French glass set into the doors and windows to lessen the sun’s glare. The soft light inside creates a gracious and solemn religious atmosphere in the cathedral.
