Brief information on Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge  

Situated five hours drive from Guilin, this little town is well known for its “folk custom center” and Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge.

Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge was built in 1916, and is about 64.4 meters long, 3.4 meters wide and 10.6 meters high. The bridge has five pavilions with flying eaves built at regular intervals. There are beautiful patterns and flowers engraved on every eave. The bridge is spectacular and imposing, just like a gorgeous rainbow. Perhaps the most amazing aspect of the bridge is that it was constructed from timber without any nails or rivets.  

There are benches at each end of the bridge, offering weary travellers the chance to pause for a rest. Taking in the view while sitting on the bench you can see the stream flowing slowly, tea trees growing at each side of the bridge, and farmers farming the countryside. Intricate and delicate Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge, magnificent and spectacular drum tower, inhabitants and natural mountains and rivers combine to portray a living and breathing beautiful custom painting.
