Brief information on Daxu Old Town  

Located in the south-east of Guilin, about 18 kilometres from the centre of Guilin, Daxu Old Town, first built in the Song Dynasty, has a history of more than 1000 years and is one of the "four old towns."

Daxu Old Town is not only an important transportation hub, but also a famous distribution centre for trade. The old street, which is covered with blue stone, extends two kilometres along the Li River, and the preserved old houses adorn both sides of the street. Many workshops also survive today, and resident’s quiet and peaceful lives. . Longevity Bridge is a must-see attraction if you visit Daxu Old Town. Built in the Ming Dynasty, Longevity Bridge is made of stone. As the Li River is to the west of the bridge, it is the perfect place from which to appreciate the Li River

Many scenes from this old town may be familiar to many, as many films and television plays have been shot here. In addition, visitors are attracted by the local snacks, the traditional culture and the various traditional folk customs. The historical and cultural heritage and folk customs survive to the present day, and provide new content and meaning. It is symbolic of the modern juxtaposition of modern commerce and traditional culture.
