Brief information on Yao Mountain
Located on the eastern outskirts of the city, about 8 km from the downtown area, Yao Mountain is the highest mountain in Guilin with an elevation of 903.3 meters. It was named after the Yaodi Temple built in the Tang Dynasty.
Yao Mountain is well known for its bright and colorful appearance. In spring, it is full of colorful azaleas; in summer it is decorated with green bamboo and pine trees; in autumn, it is dressed with a red ocean of maple leaves and yellow Chrysanthemum indicum; in winter, it shows a different aspect altogether and is covered by white snow.
By virtue of the newly-built cableway, you can travel to the top of the mountain in comfort where you can enjoy picturesque views. At the summit, you can glimpse a huge natural reclined Budda, or drink the water of Tianci Fountain, relaxing and refreshing weary travelers. In addition, the scene on both sides of the river that flows through the city will energies even the weariest traveler.
