Located at the end of East Dazhi Street of Harbin’s Nangang District, Jile Buddhist Temple was built in the 1920s, and occupies an area of 57,000 square meters. As the biggest modern Buddhist temple in Heilongjiang Province and one of the famous Four Buddhist Temples in the three northeastern provinces of China, Jile Buddhist Temple is as famous as Prajna Temple in Changchun, Cien Temple in Shenyang and Shurangama Temple in Yingkou. The integrated design, layout and architectural structure of Jile Temple retains the style and characteristics of other Chinese temple buildings. The main buildings in the temple include Temple Gate, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, The Palace of Heavenly Kings, Mahavira Palace, Sansheng Palace, and the East and West Side Halls. Furthermore you can also see the Seven-Storied Stupa, Deceased Bhikku Stupa, Hall of Five Hundred Arhats, and the Palace of Forty-Eight Wishes here.
Jile Buddhist Temple is not only a northern scared shine of Buddhism for Buddhists on pilgrimage, but also a famous attraction for tourists from home and abroad to visit. It has been listed as both a National Key Open Temple and by the provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
