Huizhou Travel Guide - Brief Information on Huizhou

Located at the southeastern part of Guangdong Province, northeastern part of Pearl River Delta, and beside Daya Bay of China South Sea, Huizhou borders with Shenzhen ad Hong Kong. With a population of 3.21 million people, Huizhou contains 7 districts and counties covering an area of 11,200 square miles. The suburbs contain: Huicheng, Huiyang, Huidong, Boluo, Longmen, Daya Bay Economic and Technical Development Zone and Zhongkai Economic and Technical Development Zone, which are two national development zones.

Huizhou is authorized to be a prefecture-level city by State Council of China on Jan. 1988 and the city government office located at Huicheng District. Huizhou is a well-known historic and cultural city in Guangdong Province and from ancient time, it is the political, economic, cultural and traffic center in Dongjiang River Valley. Chinese illustrious literator Sushi in Northern Song Dynasty had live in Huizhou. During Chinese Revolution of 1911, Sun Zhongshan had led revolutionary activities here. Also, during the first Kuomintang-Communist Cooperation, Zhou Enlai had led Eastward Fight of National Revolutionary Army.

Huizhou is a famous home town for overseas Chinese and the amount of overseas Chinese compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan with Huizhou origin has reached to 0.8 million. The traveling resources in Huizhou are abundant both in natural scenes and cultural scenes.
