Jinan History

With solid proof for the existence of a primitive tribe leader named Shun in Jinan in 22 B.C., this place is known as cradle of Chinese Civilization. Chengziya situated in the eastern suburban of Jinan City, is the symbol of Longshan Culture that emphasizes black pottery. The most ancient city site named Zhangqiu City, which can be dated back to 4600 to 4000 years ago, was discovered here in Longshan Town.

As a city, Jinan enjoys more than 2600 years history. Jinan was the capital city of Shandong Province since Ming and Qing Dynasties. In July 1929, Jinan City was established and from 1975 onwards Jinan started to welcome foreign visitors.
