Brief information on Rize Valley  

Rize Valley is the south-west branch of the Jiuzhaigou valley system and ranges over 18 kilometers from Nuorilang Waterfall to Primeval Forest. It is undoubtedly the highlight of Jiuzhaigou, featuring magnificent and ever-changing scenery. Travelers will encounter many beautiful sites in this valley:

The Primeval Forest is an area of preserved ancient woodland where trees blot out the sky and the sun’s rays curl sinuously through the leaves. Tourists will find themselves surrounded by a new isolated world while walking on the thick, soft lichens, smelling the fragrant, moist air and listening to the sound of the wind sighing through the pines.

Swan Lake lies quietly in Rize Valley. With luscious grass and sweet water, the lake attracts a large number of swans and ducks, thus it is named “Swan Lake”.

Grass Lake, situated under a cliff, is a shallow lake covered with luxuriant, fragrant grass. The fragrant grass and its inverted image contrast with each other. Occasionally one or two water birds move about unhurriedly in the lake.

Panda Lake is a national treasure of China. Its name comes from the report that pandas in Jiuzhaigou drink water or play in this lake. The lake is characterized by the curious color patterns of blue and green.

Five Flower Lake is regarded as the pride of Jiuzhaigou Valley and is located at the end of the upper reach of Peacock River. Colorful leaves are gathered on the lakefront and interlaced as brocades, while ancient fallen tree trunks criss-cross the bottom of the lake.
