Founded around the 10th century, the Guge was an ancient kingdom in Western Tibet. Being one of the principle leaders of civilization on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the mysterious Guge kingdom was in fashion for a period, but suddenly disappeared 300 year ago, leaving behind countless mysteries. The famous ruins of Guge are situated about 1,200 miles west of Lhasa. Each year, many tourists, photographers, explorers and artists are attracted by the remains of the Guge Kingdom; the cave dwellings, houses, stupas, monasteries, pagodas and tunnels all help to provide an insight into this ancient civilization.
