Lhasa Coach
There are mainly five routes for entering into Tibet. They are respectively Sichuan-Tibet (Chengdu-Lhasa) Highway, China National Highway 109 (Xining-Gomud-Lhasa), China National Highway 219 (Yecheng-Pulan), Yunnan-Tibet Highway (Xiaguan-Mangkang) as well as the China Nepal Friendship Highway (Lhasa-Katmandu).
Compared with other highways, the Sichuan-Tibet Highway and Yunnan-Tibet Highway are full of frustrations, and some of their sections even break out the debris flow, more dangerous. However, the sceneries along the way and the ethnic group amorous feelings are quite attractive.
China National Highway 219 is more difficult. Most of the sections are the unpaired roadbed and barren beach, plus the little accommodation and several hundred no man’s lands, travelers in this way should be more careful.
China National Highway 109 is considered as the best one to go to Tibet with over 1,900 kilometers’ black pavement which is able to open all year round. However, as its average altitude is more than 4,000 meters, the road goes by the name of “road in the sky”. People in this way may naturally suffer the high mountain sickness.
China Nepal Friendship Highway is the main road entering into the Tibet for foreign tourists. And the port of entry is Zhangmu.
The Lhasa Coach Station is located at the intersection of Mingzu Road and Middle Jinzhu Road which offers the services to Bayi, Changdu, Chengdu, Shigatse, Gyantse, Gomud and other Tibetan regions. The model at this station includes conventional type and luxury and price of the ticket is depends on the specific model consequently. The enquiry phone of the coach station is 0891-6824469.
