Brief information on Lion Hill Park  

Located in the center of the old town, the Lion Hill Park is a nationally rated attraction. The park was built against the hill, resembling a lion lying sleeping, hence its name. The ancient buildings in the park are in the best position to enjoy a bird’s view of Lijiang’s old town.

The park occupies an area of 15 hectares with many woods and flying birds, including more than 40 cypress trees, which are more than 800 years old. All of these make the 90% forest coverage rate. There is a building called the Wangu Tower, which is a symbolic building due to its special and unique construction style. The tower is 33 meters high with 16 columns. Climbing up the tower, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the old town and moreover of Yulong Snow Mountain, the beautiful new Lijiang City, and the Naxi villages surrounded by fields. In the southern area of the park, there is the White Dragon Horse Pool Temple, built in the Qing Dynasty and a clear-water pool called the White Dragon Horse Pool. There are two gardens in the North known as Wenchang Palace and Double Stone Garden, built in the Qing Dynasty, and with a history of 272 years of teaching and examination.
