Brief information on Spruce Plateau  

The Spruce Plateau (Yunshanping) is also called "Wuluyoucuige" in the Naxi language, which means the place for lovers who die for their love. It lies 27 kilometers north of Lijiang City, at the side of the White Water River (Baishui River), on a highland Plateau situated on the mountainside of Shanzidou Peak (Fan Peak), the main peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. With an altitude of 3,100 meters, the Plateau is surrounded by spruces and firs, forming an enchanting scene on the mountain. 

It is said the plateau is the place where the first Naxi couple died for their love. The Plateau is regarded as the entrance to “Yulong Ideal Kingdom” where life is peaceful and happy, and the Naxi people could love freely. It is the place where lovers who want to throw off the shackles of arranged marriages can seek their true love and sacrifice themselves for love.
