Lijiang Food - What and Where to eat in Lijiang

Lijiang has a rich variety of delicacies; Lijiang cuisine is mostly noted for the vegetarian dishes that the region produces. Lijiang food pays particular attention to freshness, and the meat is often braised or roasted, producing famed local dishes of grilled fish and Roast Whole Lamb.

The centuries of indigenous culture has left behind many famous snacks in Lijiang. Although there are no world-famous dishes, tourists in Lijiang can still glut themselves with local delicacies like cici bean agar-agar jelly (jidou liangfen), Lijiang Stuffed Buns (Lijiang baba), Lima-bean rice (qingdou menfan), sticky rice black pudding (nuomi xuechang), pickled sour fish (yan suanyu), Tuotuo Pork, and buttered tea (su youcha).

Lijiang Baba: Lijiang Baba is a pancake made of wheat flour, ham and scallion or sugar. It has two types: salty and sweet, both rounds in shape. At every snack bar in Lijiang, travelers can find this kind of specialty.

Tuotuo Pork: This is a favorite of the Yi People with big pieces of pig’s meat.

Lijiang Food Streets

Square Street in the center of old town is one of the most well-known food streets in Lijiang which arranged many small restaurants along both sides of the street. In addition, there are also many snacks in the farmer’s market and Huadu Commercial City running until the deep night.
