Brief information on Huaping National Natural Reserve  

Huaping National Natural Reserve is located at the southwest of Longsheng County, and is 70 km away from Guilin. To the cities in China, it is the nearest virgin forest. It is a natural ecological travel area for forest exploration, sightseeing and education.

The total area of the natural reserve is 15133.3 hectares. It can be divided into four scenic areas which are Hongmao River, Cujiang River, Hongtan and Guangfu. In the reserve, there are steep hills, flourishing plants, crisscross vines and thick lichens. Many precious animals and plants can be found here. On May 6th, 1957, Cathay Silver Fir, which is called the panda in the plants, was first discovered in Huaping natural reserve. There are also hundreds of big and small waterfalls in the reserve, so Huaping reserve is also known by beautiful names such as “the world of flowers”, “the hometown of waterfalls” and “the kingdom of animals”.
