Brief information on Luoyang Museum  

Luoyang, a typical Chinese ancient and cultural city famous for being capital for thirteen times of various kingdoms in Chinese history such as the Xia (2,100 -1,600 B.C.), the East Zhou (770 - 256 B.C.), is located in the west of Henan Province. Located in the downtown of Luoyang City, Luoyang Museum was built with Chinese ancient architecture features, and opened on May 1st, in 1974. Focusing on the Heluo culture, the museum displays Yangshao Culture, Longshan Culture, period of Xia, Shang, Western and Eastern Zhou, and Western and Eastern Han Dynasties. The whole exhibition is divided into several sections such as Primitive Society, Slave Society, Feudal Society, etc. There are 1,700 pieces of antiques among which the most well-known are Square Wooden Drinking Cup, Square Bronze Ritual Vase on Shangcun Tripod, precious double-edged sword of Warring States Period, Color-painted Pot of Western Han, Honor Guard Tomb Figure of Northern Wei, and Tang Tri-colored Glazed Pottery of Tang Dynasty, etc… Apart from these, Luoyang Museum becomes a venue for Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibitions that are held annually.
