Brief information on August 1st Uprising Museum  

The August 1st Uprising Museum was founded in 1956 to commemorate the Nanchang Uprising led by the Chinese Communist Party on August 1, 1927. The museum was built on the site of the Nanchang Uprising Headquarters, a gray five-storey building, which was once a local hotel but was used as the headquarters of the revolutionary army in 1927. Now the museum holds over one thousand original objects of historical and cultural importance.

A golden plaque with an inscription written by Chen Yi, former mayor of Shanghai and highest ranking military commander in China, hangs above the door to the museum. The second and third floors feature four showrooms and one memorial house of inscriptions, all of which vividly show the glorious history of the Nanchang Uprising. The Hall of the museum was reconstructed in accordance with its original appearance. Room no. 25, which Zhou Enlai worked in, no.9, the office space of the military staff committee, and the room where some leaders of the Uprising lived were also restored to their former appearance. In addition, a series of photos of Zhou Enlai are also displayed in the showroom on the third floor.
