Brief information on Guangxi Ethnic Relics Center  

Guangxi Ethnic Relics Center, occupying an area of 24,000 square meters (about 28,704 yards), is an outdoor exhibition center which is combined with knowledge and entertainment. It features historic relics, folk buildings, ethnic flavor, and folk customs of four minorities.

Entering the central gate, tourists will see a huge timbal which is a wonderful achievement of the bronze culture in ancient China, with a history of over 2,700 years. There are more than 320 timbals in the centre, among which is the Yunleiwen Timbal, the largest in the world. The Yunleiwen Timbal weighs around 300 kilograms (about 661 pounds), with a diameter of 165 centimeters (about 65 inches) and stands 67.5 centimeters (about 26.5 inches) tall.

Typical buildings of a few minorities can be seen here, such as dwelling houses of Zhuang people, bamboo buildings of the Yao’s, houses constructed on water by the Miao people and the drum-towers of Dong people. Their daily utensils and handicrafts are also displayed in respective model houses. Various folk performances are shown during festivals. This is a place where tourists can fully appreciate the enchanting and unique customs of the minorities of Guangxi Province. Meanwhile tourists can also visit several workshops that demonstrate the extraction of oil and sugar, rice grinding, paper and pottery making, etc, each of which is unique on its own. On top of that, tourists who visit the Miao building will be treated to its unique folk dishes.
