Brief information on Qingdao Navy Museum  

The Qingdao Naval Museum, established by the Chinese Navy, is the only military museum fully reflecting the development of China’s Navy. It is located on Qingdao’s Laiyang Road and borders Lu Xun Park to the east, Little Qingdao Isle to the west, the sea to the south and Zhan Qiao Pier to the north.

The Qingdao Naval Museum opened to the public on October 1, 1989. It occupies an area of more than 40,000 square meters and includes exhibition halls of navy uniforms, weaponry, warships and naval warfare history. Thousands of rare items on display in the museum tell the story of the Chinese Navy’s meager beginnings and gradual modernization. The exhibition hall of navy uniforms displays 1200 historical pictures related to the ancient and modern Chinese Navy as well as the uniforms, medals, badges and appliances of different periods. The weaponry and warship hall displays used naval vessels, planes, missiles, naval guns, underwater weapons and amphibious tanks. The warship exhibition hall displays the ship Chengdu (a first-generation Anshan missile destroyer) and the submarine Changcheng.
