Brief information on Zhan Qiao Pier  

Zhan Qiao Pier is one of Qingdao’s most attractive spots and is heavily visited by tourists to the city. The structure is referred to in Chinese as a “bridge” but it was originally built to serve as a pier. With a length of 440 meters and a width of 10 meters, Zhan Qiao Pier provides a panoramic view of the bay and the Qingdao skyline.

Along the pier, lotus-shaped lamps provide illumination at night and decoration during the day. Huilan Pavilion, located at the south end of pier, is a Chinese-style octagonal pavilion which offers a respite of traditional beauty against the backdrop of the modern cityscape. Little Qingdao Isle and its large lighthouse are also visible from Zhan Qiao Pier, making for a beautiful scene popular with tourists.

The natural beauty of Qingdao surrounds Zhan Qiao Pier. At high tide, tourists gather to watch waves lapping against the rocks. Low tide uncovers the ochre rock and golden beach, which travelers comb in search of shells. When the sea is calm, gulls hover over the waves and bring Qingdao’s waterfront to life.
