Confucius Temple
Confucius Temple was built in 1034 in Nanjing, which is a place to worship the great philosopher and educator, Confucius in ancient China. It is called Fuzimiao in Chinese. Confucius Temple was damaged for several times and has been rebuilt again and again.
Confucius temple buildings consist of Confucius temple, XueGong and Jiangnan Gongyuan, all of those are the essences of the Qinhuai scenic spot.
The Gongyuan street area near the Qinhuai River, is the old-timey tourism culture and shopping street. At the same time, it rebuilt the east market and west market according to the history pattern. The traditional local snacks here are more than 200 species, every time of the Lantern Festival, Confucius exhibit of lanterns would be held here which is in full blast.
There are many shops where you can find all kinds of local featured handicrafts and commodities that you cannot buy from any other places. Tourists can buy various Nanjing specialties including Jinling gold foil, Nanjing brocade, Jinling folding fans, Rain flower pebbles, wood carvings, Nanjing dried salted duck and so on.
