Shenyang History
Having a history of more than 7200 years, Shenyang has developed into a prosperous modern city. On December 8th 1986, Shenyang was listed as a national historical and cultural city by the State Department of China, possessing much heritage. Gradually, Shenyang has become world famous due to its long historical culture, and with attractive scenic attractions drawing in a large number of visitors from all over the world.
Besides Han Chinese, there are also 37 other minorities in Shenyang including the Manchu, Korean, Hui Muslim, Mongolian etc. Manchu people mainly live in Dongling, Yuhong Suburb area, and Xinmin City in Liaozhong County. The Koreans generally live in Sujiatun, Dongling, Yuhong, Heping and Huanggu district. Most of the Hui Muslims live in Shenhe District.
