Shigatse Population
With a population of 80,000, 91 percent of them is farmers and herdsmen, and 97 percent of the population is formed by Tibetans, and the rest of 3 percent was composed of Han Chinese and other 15 ethnic groups, such as Hui, Monggol, Tu, Manchu, Miao and Zhuang. The total population of the Shigatse forms one-fourth of the population in the Tibet. Most of the people live in the Yarlung Zangbo River area, and the western area is sparsely inhabited.
