Taiyuan Bus
The Taiyuan bus system is complete with 67 lines to every region of the downtown. Most of bus tickets cost RMB1 per one, and a small amount long-distance lines cost a little more.
With the wide roads, Taiyuan has a smooth traffic. The traffic among various attractions is convenient. Generally speaking, the buses running in Taiyuan start from 6:30 am to 19:30 pm.
You could take No.308 (old road) or No. 804 (new road) bus on the square before Train Station to Jinci Temple. The ticket costs RMB2 to 3 with last bus at 16:30.

Taiyuan Coach
Located in central Shanxi, Taiyuan has a comprehensive highway system. Dayun (Datong-Yuncheng), Taimao (Taiyuan-Maojin), Taishi (Taiyuan-Shijiazhuang) highways and so on are running through the city, convenient for the long-distance passengers.
Major Long-distance Bus Stations
There are five major long-distance bus stations, which are Provincial Bus Station, East Station, West Station, Jiannan Bus Station and Yingbin Bus Station.
♦ The Provincial Highway Station is near Taiyuan Train Station (No. 72 of Yingze Avenue). It mainly provides the long-distance buses to Beijing, Shijiazhuang and other major domestic cities. The enquiry telephone is 0351-4139972.
♦ Taiyuan Jiannan Bus Station is located in South Jianshe Road. It mainly provides the buses to major cities of China and cities within Shanxi Province. The enquiry telephone is 0351-7071191, and the tickets booking telephone is 0351-7071219. If visitors want to go to any counties of Jinzhong City, they should take buses at Jiannan Station.
♦ Taiyuan Yinbin Bus Station is placed in Yinbin Road. It is mainly providing buses to places within the province. The enquiry telephone is 0351-7056214.
♦ Taiyuan East Station and West Station are also the important long-distance bus stations, which both have the buses to big cities of China. For arriving at Qizhou and Shuozhou, tourists could take buses at East Station. The West Long-distance Bus Station has buses to Yuliang.
The Main Coach Lines
♦ The “Taijiu” highway between Taiyuan and Jiuguan is the first highway in Shanxi. It starts from Wuxu, Taiyuan, runs through Yuci city, Shouxiang county, Yanquan city and Pingding county, and then arrives at the junction between Shanxi and Hebei. When it goes through Guanjiu, it connects the highway from Shijiazhuang to Beijing. If taking “Taijiu” highway, you only need 5 hours from Taiyuan to Beijing with the fare of RMB120. The bus station of this line is located in City Bus Station east to Yingze Avenue, and the terminal is Beijing Lize Bridge Long-distance Bus Station.
♦ The highway between Taiyuan and Yuanping (Yuantai Highway) is convenient for travelers from Taiyuan to Mt. Wutai.
♦ Visitors could take a rental car at City Bus Station of Yingze Avenue to Mt. Wutai (fare of RMB 43), Hun Yuan Xuan Kong Temple and Mu Temple of Ying County and so on.
♦ Volvo bus at the gate of Electricity Power Building takes tourists to Datong city, which will take 5 hours and RMB 70.
♦ There are long-distance buses directly driving to Pingyao with 2hours and about RMB 10.
♦ For going out of Shanxi Province, you can take buses at Stations on Yingze Avenue.
♦ Travelers to Linfen may take buses at Yingbin Station.
♦ There is no long-distance bus to Jinzhong City, so visitors should take No. 901 Bus at Railway Station.
