Brief information on Ancient Culture Street

Ancient Culture Street is another of the ten must-see tourist spots in Tianjin, located in the north-eastern part of Lanjie, extending to the north and south of the Heavenly Temple (Mazu Palace). With a total length of 580 meters, this street is a reconstruction of Tianjin’s ancient buildings of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Two giant memorial arches stand at each entrance (north and south) and are inscribed with the characters “Jin men gu li” and “gu shang gu yuan” respectively. Over 100 stores operate on both sides of the street, selling painted sculptures, antiques, jade articles, embroidery, gold and silver decorations and the four treasures of the study including writing brushes, ink sticks, ink slab and paper.

Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street simply bristles with artistic. Here, travellers will encounter many local specialities, such as New Year Pictures of Yangliuqing, Clay Figurines Zhang, and Tianjin Wei Kites, to name but a few.
