Brief information on Wuwei Wen Temple  

Also called Confucius Temple or Wen Shrine, Wuwei Wen Temple is located in the southeast of Wuwei city, which was built Zhengtong 4th year of Ming Dynasty (1439) and expanded afterwards. It is now known as the NO.1 Academy in Longyou Area for the large scale, and became the important provincial level historical reservation approved by Gansu Municipal People’s Government on September 1st, 1981.
The temple is facing south and made up by three architectures which situated in the east, middle and west. From east to west, they are Wenchang Palace, Wen Temple and Confucius School of Liangzhou Area. Covers an area of over 1,500 square meters, it is a sacred place for worshipping Confucius.
The Wen Temple is magnificent and solemn and which with the Song Dynasty architecture style. The Dacheng Hall is built on the stone basis, a portrait of Confucius, the greatest philosopher, educator, politician, who made great efforts in spreading the sprint of education from Chinese history, and some of his students Yuanhui, Zisi, Zengzi and the memorial tablet of Mengzi, are sacrificed on the lintel of the Palace. The Zunjing Pavilion, a 2-story, earth-wooden architecture,  behind the Dacheng Hall, is the highest ancient building in Wuwei. The temple was put in record as the key historical and cultural relics in Gansu province and under the protection of the local government. Now it is the Museum of Wuwei city.
