situated at the foot of the Wulaofeng (Mountain of Five Old Men). The Temple consists of four main buildings on northern side such as Mahavira Hall (Daxiongbaodian), Devajara Hall (the Hall of Heavenly Kings), Dabei Hall (the Hall of Great Compassion) and a Pavilion housing Buddha images from Burma, Buddhist scriptures, ivory sculptures and other art works. There are also dormitories, study rooms, libraries etc… for monks.
The Nanputuo Temple, once known as Puzhao Temple, was first constructed during Tang Dynasty (618-907). It was destroyed during Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) but rebuilt by a naval general during the rule of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722) and renamed it as Nanputuo Temple.
The vegetarian food served in the temple is famous for its color, taste and for its poetic names.
