For foreign tourists, taxi is taken as the most convenient way to getting around a city. Most taxies in Xian are focusing on the eye-catching green. The float start price is CNY 6 for the first 2 kilometers and then CNY 1.5 for each kilometer. From daily 23:00 to the next 06:00, the float start price is CNY 7 for the first 2 kilometers and then CNY 1.8 each kilometer. In addition, taxis with large air displacement will charge about CNY 8 for the float start price and the float per price is about CNY 2.4. Waiting in a traffic jam or for the lights to turn green, it is charged as 1 kilometer per 5 minutes.
Most taxi drivers in Xian are not good at speaking English. It is better to write down the destination in Chinese if you have no escort.
