Yangshuo History
Yangshuo County was founded in 265. In 590, during Sui Dynasty, the county seat was moved to its current location, Yangshuo Town. In 621, during Tang Dynasty, a part of Yangshuo County was separated and set as Guiyi County, the county seat of which was located in the north side of Jiuxian Village of the current Baisha Town. In 627, Guiyi County was absorbed back into Yangshuo County. During the Republican Period, Yangshuo County was under the jurisdiction of Guilin. In 1949, Yangshuo County was liberated and built its own people’s government, but by 1981 it was back under the administrative jurisdiction of Guilin City as a city-administrated county.
