Yangshuo Food - What and Where to eat in Yangshuo
Beer Fish: If come to Yangshuo, you have to taste Beer Fish, which is the most famous local dish. The unique cooking method of beer fish uses carp, catfish or mandarin fish caught from the nearby Li River, with a weight of 2 or 3 kilograms or so. After being fried, the fish will be boiled in the local LiQ beer. The best places to eat beer fish are on West Street, where many restaurants offer this dish.
Guilin Rice Noodles: Guilin Rice Noodles are well-known in China, with a unique flavor and smooth taste. Guilin Rice Noodles can be divided into three kinds, noodles with stewed meats, noodles with soup, and noodles with horse meat. If you don’t like chilli, you should tell the chef in advance!
Steamed Sliced Pork with Taro: Steamed Sliced Pork with Taro is a famous traditional dish of Guilin, and reputed as a ‘Famous Food in China’. It is cooked with taro, streaky pork, mashed garlic, five spice powder, cooking wine and coriander. The taro and streaky pork is first fried, and then steamed to create the special flavour.
Fried Field Snail: The Fried Field Snail is also worth eating. It has a peculiar cooking method and tastes fresh and palatable. Before cooking, the field snails will be put into clean water to remove sand and grit, then stir-fried with cooking oil, salt, ginger and cooking wine, and finally boiled together with perilla leaf, chilli and pork bones. Recommended places to eat this dish are West Street, Guihua Road Food Street and the stalls in night markets.
Others: Apart from the above dishes, grouper hot pot, braised chicken with brown sauce, Yangshuo oil-tea camellia and glutinous rice cakes are also tasty local specialties.

The recommended food streets in Yangshuo County are West Street, Guihua Road and Diecui Road. Besides, the stalls opposite gas station also offer delicious night snacks.
