Yantai Food - What and Where to eat in Yantai

Local Delicacy 1: Yantai Menzi is the city’s most famous snack and so it’s a great pity that Menzi is hard to find on the snack street these days. It can be found as a dish in large restaurant, where it generally costs about 16 RMB.   

Local Delicacy 2: Yantai is well known as the original home of Lu cuisine, the first of the 8 Chinese cuisine styles. Yantai cuisine mainly uses seafood for its delicate tastes. The cooking methods are deep-frying, slippery-frying, quick-frying over high heat, stir-frying, steaming,sauteing and stewing and adding thickeners. The most famous dishes are Braised Sea Cucumbers with Spring Onions, Braised Abalone with Shell, and Scallops with Steamed Egg White.

Yantai Food Streets

If you want to taste all the Yantai snacks, the Yantai Food Street in Shang Kuang Street may be the best place to go. You could find Fushan Noodles and Huangqiao Shao Bing, especially some restaurants mainly with Lu dishes. You could get there by bus No. 42, and No. 6.
In North Avenue, Beima Road, Haigang Road, Youth Road, Da Haiyang Road and Xi’nanhe Road, you could find many delicious seafood such as abalone, sea cucumber, etc. Yantai Menzi could be found at the supermarket of Zhenhua Shopping Centre only at CNY 1.5.
