Yili Overview:   Yili City is in Kazak Autonomous Prefecture, situated in north Xinjiang, covering an area of 350,000sq. Km. At present about 4,200,000 people of 47 nationalities live here including   Kazak, Han, Uygur, Hui, Mongolian, Xibe etc… The city is well known as the hometown of the "heavenly horses", and it was used to be the territory of the ancient Kingdom of Wusun in the Western Regions.

Yili Climate & Weather:  Generally, summers are short and the winters are long in the prefecture, which also enjoys a cool, semi-arid and continental climate. Due to the vast expanse of land and the microclimate features temperature varies in different regions. The temperature changes abruptly between day and night.

Language in Yili:  Different nationalities use different languages, the Kazak people speak Kazak, the Uygur people speak Uygur, and there are also many other languages used among people.

Yili Transportation:

By Air:  Yining Airport is only 5 kilometers (3 miles) from downtown, operating flights to Urumqi and Kashgar.

By Bus:  Yili Passenger Transport Management Centre offers express coach services to major neighboring cities like Urumqi, Shihezi, Karamay, Kumul, Karla etc. Bus fare within the city starts at 1 Yuan.

By Taxi:  The flag-down fare is 5 Yuan. 1.5 Yuan per kilometer is charged after the first 2 kilometers. Most taxi rides within the city cost around 20 Yuan.

Major Yili Tourism Resources:  Yili boasts of rich and colorful tourist resources characterized by unique grass land, rich fruit valley and the colorful lakes.

Tourist Attractions:  

Fruit Valley : It is one of the most beautiful scenic spots in Xinjiang province. The terrain is steep and wildlife ranges up and down the gorge.

Sayram Lake:
Hidden within the folds of the Tianshan Mountains, it is the largest and highest alpine lake in Xinjiang. How beautiful you can imagine when surrounded by the vast green grassland, which definitely shouldn’t be missed.

Nalati Grassland: With green mountains surrounded and fresh air, it is one of the four largest alpine meadows in the world.

Kanas Lake: Located in the valley of the Altai, Xinjiang, it is a famous natural resort attracting numerous visitors with its mysterious legend about the monster in the lake.
