Quzhou Overview:   Located in the west of Zhejiang Province and sitting on the upper course of the Qiantang River, Quzhou borders Hangzhou to the north, Jinhua to the east, Lishui to the southeast, and the provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui to the south, southwest and northwest respectively. Quzhou is a state-level historical and cultural famous city, a national level excellent tourism city, a national garden city, and a national eco-model city. With one city, two districts and three counties under its direct jurisdiction, Quzhou covers an area of 8,841 Square Kilometers with a population of 2.46 million.

Quzhou Climate & Weather: Quzhou has a temperate climate, with clearly distinct seasons. Its winters and summers are relatively long. The land also enjoys a great deal of rain throughout all seasons, but particularly between March and June. In most years this area can expect 1843 mm of rain. Average temperatures range from 16.3 to 17.3 degrees. In January average temperature comes around 4.5-5.3 degrees whilst July comes with average temperature of 27.6-29.2. Most of the year, approximately around 251-261 days is without frost. Occasionally typhoons blow in from the Pacific Ocean.

Language in Quzhou: Quzhou Dialect is a sub-dialect of the Wu dialect cluster of the Sinitic linguistic family, spoken in Quzhou. As part of the southern branch of Wu, Quzhou dialect is mutually incomprehensible when compared with those of the northern Wu branch such as Suzhou dialect and Shanghai dialect. Also, it is not particularly close to other southern Wu dialects like Wenzhou dialect and Manjiang.

Quzhou Transportation:Quzhou enjoys an advantageous location and convenient transportation, and  has long been the hub of communications, trading and distribution center for the four neighboring provinces. Quzhou is well served by both railways and highways. It is a major connection hub between the three provinces of Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian, with the Zhegan Railroad running through southern Quzhou and the Qu River flowing past northern Quzhou. A local saying goes: "Four provinces through Qu with Quzhou  as the head of five roads". Quzhou has  an airport, which has services  to various domestic destinations.

By Air:  The civil aviation here has opened routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Qindao, Hangzhou, Wenzhou and Nanjing.

By Train:   The multi-track system of the railways connecting Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces also passes through the city.

By Bus:  Two national highways, No. 320 and No. 205 and four provincial highways pass through the city. Construction of the highway connecting Hangzhou, Jinhua and Quzhou has been approved by the State Council.
 
Major Quzhou Tourism Resources:  Quzhou was established over 1800 years ago. It has two provincial scenic spots, one provincial nature-protection zone, and one provincial forest park. It has almost 2040 ancient relics’ sites, among which one is preserved at national level, 14  at provincial level and 125  at county level. • Lanke Mountain, 10 km southeast of the city centre features green peaks and clear waters. Huge rocks on top of the mountain are supported by a horizontal rock to form a natural arch or bridge the Tiansheng Bridge.
