Grand Mercure Xian Renmin Square, located in the heart of the city of Xian, right next to the governmental office of Shaanxi Province, is a 5-star hotel opened in 2004 but later acquired and run by the multinational hotel chain Mercure. The hotel is adorned with a traditional Chinese façade and garden yet modern decorations and furniture inside, and currently featuring 194 accommodations. The hotels’ biggest advantage is surely its distinguished location. Not only is it within walking distance to the government office, Muslim Street (Huimin Jie) and Bell Tower, the core of Xian and one of the must-visits of the city, but also it is merely minutes away from Min Le Yuan, an up-and-coming commercial area containing both shopping malls, department stores and street markets, and strings of lovely eateries.

“We were so lucky we had the suite”
WOW!!! I loved this hotel! It is so elegant, the service is so good, the breakfast buffet was so delicious, not to mention the room... We were so lucky that they gave us the suite... It was my boyfriend´s birthday while we were there, so we were so happy to have lived his birthday in such an amazing place and having the great upgrade! You will love the hotel and is very good located. I definetely recommend this hotel if you are going to Xian to visit the Terracota Warriors.
“Great hotel' excellent location, clean and comfortable. The restaurants are excellent”
The food is bland outside the hotel. The cruise on the li river was breathtaking. A must visit. The negative side is the chaos on the street. Signs do not mean anything. When the pedestal crossing is green cars still come at you. It is disconcerting.
“Typical Hotel of the Chain Variety”
On arrival in Xi'an we were pleased with the news that we had been up graded to a suite in the Grand Mercure on Renmin Square. This hotel is situated in very pleasant grounds with two other hotels in the same chain, sharing their amenities.Very nice if you like the anonymity of this type of hotel. It could be in any country in the world. It was comfortable and the breakfast had a good choice of food. Our only minus really was the lighting in the bedroom - very dim, even when turned up fully, and if you were the kind of person who liked to read in bed, it would not have been possible. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay there and would return.
