Mr. Mubasher Ahmad and Mrs. Nusrat Jehan Ahmad's China Tour Review
Dear Fay & Lydia:
We would like to thank you once again for arranging for us a wonderful tour of three great cities of China. We are very satisfied and happy for having received by very-well trained tour guides. All of them -- Ms. Juliet, Miss Jolin and Miss Judy performed their job most professionally. They were punctual, courteous, helpful, loving and well-informed. Their command of English language was very good, and we did not have any problem communicating with them or through them with others. The transportation was good; drivers were safe and dependable. All the three hotels -- Prime Hotel in Beijing, Empark Grand Hotel in Xian, and Lexington Plaza in Shanghai were top of the line, and our stay was extremely comfortable. The restaurants and the food were good, with the exception of only one place where service was as good as others, and we had informed the manager through Miss Judy that we were not very happy.
Despite the cold weather, we learnt a lot about the rich Chinese history, its culture, people, and the fabulous performing arts. We are surely going to recommend ChinaTourOnline to all our friends who might be thinking to visit China. We have four grown up children and ten grandchildren, and we are already encouraging them to tour the great country of China through your help.
We will like to offer a special appreciation for the gift of silk scarf’s to us by Fay in Xian. It was good to meet with her in person.

| clients with farmer discovered Terra-Cotta Army |
Hi Tracy & Ivy
I am really sorry it took so long to respond. Please see below for my comments. I have also attached a few photos.
The tour vehicles were in good condition and the air-con worked fine.
The drivers were courteous and assisted the older people in the group get in/out of the van. The driver in Beijing was great as he navigated the peak hour traffic (which seems to be 24 hours!) really well, so that we had more time sightseeing and less time stuck in traffic.
All tour guides were very knowledgeable and flexible with our needs. Some were easier to understand than others, but overall I don’t believe anyone in our group had any issues understanding the guides. Emily in Beijing was the most experienced and showed a lot of patience with our group. Lena, in Xian, was an absolute stand-out both in terms of her clear, precise English and also her vibrant character. There is no substitute for enthusiasm! Eddy in Shanghai was also good and very humble. We saved a lot of money by using his local knowledge of where to shop. We love to bargain, so we were in our element!
The free bottles of water are a thoughtful service that was much appreciated by all of us.
The restaurants were of a very good standard. Quite spacious and pleasant atmosphere. A couple of them also had evening entertainment. The quality of the food we had was excellent, except for Shanghai where we thought the standard was average. Maybe it was because we had such excellent meals in Beijing & Xian that our expectations were too high by the time we reached Shanghai. Also, we had dinner at the same Shanghai restaurant twice. This should preferably be avoided.
The restaurants were clean and hygienic. No communication problems in the hotel restaurants. Had a bit of difficulty getting staff in the outside restaurants to understand what we required, but no major issues. The food was delicious, well presented and the range seemed endless! The buffet breakfast at all 3 hotels were superb. Luckily we had a lot of walking to do each day, so that we could burn off the calories! I can’t remember all the restaurant names, but in my opinion, the best meals were as follows: Beijing - Peking Duck dinner. Xian - Western buffet dinner at Grand New World, Dumpling Dinner at Tang Dynasty show, Steamboat lunch at local restaurant (organized by Lena). Shanghai - lunch at local restaurant
Here are some suggestions:
- The choice of only fruit for dessert after every meal was a bit boring. Maybe they should serve some special Chinese desserts, or ice cream, to give people some variety.
- We were offered rice for lunch and dinner. Maybe noodles for dinner might have been a better choice.
- Have at least one steamboat meal and one western meal (steaks, etc) on the 8 day tour. You will find that people will appreciate the change in cuisine
The selection of hotels was excellent! Prime hotel in Beijing had the best location - close to the main attractions and stroll to shops. Grand New World in Xian had the smallest rooms. Lexington Plaza in Shanghai was fabulous and easily the best of the 3 we stayed at. Extra bed for our 10 year old son was also organized prior to our check-in.
We were very lucky that we got to meet the farmer who discovered the terracotta warriors. We have attached a few photos taken on our trip. You are welcome to publish this on your website for other readers.
Overall, the 8-day Splendid Tour offers excellent value for money. We were somewhat concerned about making an internet payment but our fears were put to rest by your company. Very honest, efficient and reliable people. We will certainly recommend CTO to our friends who intend touring China. The tour was well put-together and went like clockwork. The 2 domestic flights were on time with no issues. The only recommendation I would make is that the visit to the Badaling Wall should start early so as to avoid the traffic. Our tour group would have been happy to leave the hotel at 7:30am instead of 8:30am. Keep up the good standard CTO! Thanks for the fantastic memories and I am sure we will be back!
Please feel free to post our comments on the CTO website.

Lena in Xian was a fantastic guide! CTO should try to employ more guides like Lena. Also, it was very nice to meet Tracy & Ivy who organized the whole tour. There was nothing they could not do!

Ms. Robin Ruth Irvin & Mr. Anthony Peter Teubert's China Tour Review
Dear Fay and Lydia,
The standard of vehicles was excellent, clean and well maintained.
The drivers were always polite and helpful. Never did they behave in anyway that could be considered offensive
All the tour guides spoke well and we had no problems with communication at all. In fact the tour guides made our visit more interesting with anecdotes about the local area, themselves and the lives of their family.
The bottled water was much appreciated and a nice service.
The restaurants were generally of a good standard. We enjoyed the food and there was certainly more than enough.
The waitresses were polite and helpful considering the language barrier as we did not speak Chinese.
The hotels were clean although the Beijing hotel by western standards had the hardest beds. In the hotel in X’ian we couldn’t get water for the rooms and had to find a street seller but it was in a fabulous position. Shanghai hotel had the best service and the friendliest staff.
CTO organized a great tour and If I returned to China I would definitely get them to do the organising. Any questions were answered promptly and everything rand like clockwork.
The guide in Chongquing, Miss Linda showed us around the city with spontaneity and initiative. She filled our day with anecdotes about the city and its people, we used public transport at our request to get to our final destination which made the city feel more real. A thoroughly enjoyable day.

Mrs. Joan Hard and Ms. Kathleen Dickson's China Tour Review
Dear Ivy and Tracy,
We had no idea of what to expect, but we are so very happy with the outcome. Thank you so much for making our trip a wonderful, rewarding, and memorable experience, and thank you for the photo.
The vehicles were especially clean and nice in Beijing. In Xian, not as nice - but we did fine. We did have a major traffic delay in Xian but fared out well and found the traffic conditions very interesting. The drivers were all just great - polite, helpful and thoughtful..
We did find it difficult to understand the guides at times. However, they were determined and sincere in their endeavor to relate the history of China facts to us. Every day we received mineral water from you, thank you for the thoughtful service.
We enjoyed all the restaurants very much. The restaurants all appeared clean and tidy - and the waiters/waitresses were very attentive. However, there were times when we would liked to have had a fork instead of chop sticks. The food was hot and very good. We were also glad to have such wonderful breakfast buffets - so that we could have some American food.
I was pleasantly amazed at how clean and tidy all the hotels were. The linens especially were immaculate. The only discomfort we had was the ability to turn down the room thermostat. Every hotel we stayed in was too warm for us, and there seemed to be no way to cool them down after asking for room service.
There were several stores/factories that seemed to be arranged by the guides we were sometimes encouraged to stay there and shop. We thought that this was a procedure that the guides were required to do.
We are very happy with our experience of traveling with private guides provided by CTO. Everyone, especially the guides and drivers, were courteous, kind, and patience throughout the trip. If there was a problem, CTO made sure that our needs were met, or that we were reimbursed for any inconvenience. For instance when our plane was delayed, an extra meal was provided for us. In fact, the Victoria Queen of the Yangtze river cruise waited for our arrival before they left port.
We did feel rushed a few times trying to meet the schedule and timelines every day. I also felt that some of the temple visits could be eliminated or shortened. Each city had their share of Temples that got to be repetitious. They required a lot of walking that didn’t seem necessary.
We had David as our guide in Beijing - probably with us the longest of all
the quides. He was very kind, patient, friendly, knowledgeable and took his job very seriously as did all of the guides.
Sincerely, Joan Hard

Mr. Gordon and Ms. Susan's China Tour Review
| Gordon & Susan with Mt. Everest |
Hi Lydia & Fay,
I am unsure why our previous replies were not received !! However third time lucky!
Well, here goes.
All motor vehicles supplied for our use were very clean & tidy. The air conditioners were always in use or as required. We did not have any problems.
The drivers all behaved politely during our trip. They were most helpful in storing our luggage, opening doors and looking after our comfort. We did not find any offensive behavior.
Our tour guides all spoke clearly, were polite and easy to understand. we had no major communication difficulties at all.
We were supplied with one bottle of water each per day which was very well received. Thank you! In Tibet, Tenzin our guide had a carton of water in the car at all times for our consumption as we needed to drink this more frequently due to altitude differences. This was very much appricated.
We were both very happy with all accommodation that was organised. There were no complaints in that area. The restaurants visted were good too.
We would like to make a suggestion that perhaps we the travel should be consulted in regard to what and how much we would like to eat.
The restaurants appeared to be clean and tidy. The food supplied was very tasty with the only fault being there was too much food!! We were concerned that we were unable to finish the food therefore resulting in it being wasted. All staff were polite.
The hotels were all clean and tidy. We were made to feel welcome.
We were consulted as to whether we wished to visit the shops premises. If we were in agreement we did so however if we were not interested that was fine. There was no pressure to go there & were able to leave once we were ready.
We were very happy with the travel arrangements. We are happy for CTO to use our comments.
We would like to take this opportunity to voice our opinion in regard to the debacle in regard to our permit into Tibet. This created a lot of stress for us as well as to Lydia in trying to reorganise new travel plans. This in fact created new financial pressures on us, having to return home & then start again. We had to pay for extra flights and luckily we were able to borrow this from family at short notice. Considering this trip was approximately 5 years in the planning and saving, this was a huge disappointment.
We would like to thank Lydia very much for her patience and time in organising our trip. Lydia would have been under immense pressure to see her well laid plans unravelling. Lydia was able to organise the amendments to our travel very well - thank you very much!!!
A big thank you to Tenzin in Tibet who was a fantastic guide. His communication skills, knowledge and help were fantastic. Tenzin has a very good sense of humour and was most helpful. When we needed to get some medications, Tenzin took us along to the pharmacy and explained to the the pharmacist exactly what our problem was!! Tenzin also enquired as to what we would like to eat which was greatly appreciated.
He is an absolute gem and we reccomend he is kept on your books!! Thank you Tenzin for making our adventure in Tibet most memorable!!!!
We would also like to commend Chris in Li Jiang who was most helpful to us when we were both terribly ill. He took us to the hospital & got treatment for us. He was invaluable in communicting with the medical staff. His concern and care for us was genuine and much appreciated.
