Thanks to the organisation and attentive care we received from China Tour Online, we experienced one of our best holidays. The iconic sites and the friendly, knowledgeable guides made for an unforgettable experience.
All the drivers were polite and helpful and all the guides were polite, knowledgeable and friendly. There were no communication difficulties. We received two bottles of mineral water per person each day it was very much appreciated.
The vehicle in Shanghai wasn’t as nice as all the other cars, but not really anything to complain about. We did not encounter any problems with the transport.
All the hotels were clean, tidy and provided excellent service. In our opinion the hotel in Xian was the best.
The only small complaint we had was with the train travel. The situation with not being able to obtain a cabin for sole occupancy at the time was a little upsetting, however the problem was handled in a professional manner and the compensation of a room for our final night was fair, providing a guide and car to take us to the airport was an excellent thoughtful gesture.
In addition it would have been preferable if the seats booked for the trip to Qingdao were side by side and not across an aisle. However in the event we were able to swap seats with another passenger to enable us to sit together.
Whilst it is a little unfair to single out any one person for individual praise, we should like to thank Ella in Shanghai for lending us cash until we got back to the hotel, when we have problems with an ATM. (we did pay her back!) – exceptional service. And Juliet and her driver in Beijing were excellent.
We were a little nervous in booking our holiday over the internet with a foreign company, but having used CTO we would be more than happy to be used as a reference to reassure future travellers.

Dear Tracy & Ivy
Thank you for your patience. We have both been very busy since arriving home two weeks ago. We want to give you the feedback as below.
Firstly please accept our sincere thanks for organizing such a wonderful tour. The whole experience was fantastic. We will never forget China. We put our trust in China Tours Online and were fully rewarded. We really can’t thank you enough for everything you and your colleagues did to make us so welcome, and so well looked after. Every guide and every driver was perfect in every way.
In Beijing our guide was Joe. We both thought Joe was fantastic. He made us so welcome and shared our sense of humor perfectly. He is a young man with flair and ambition. He will be very successful. The Prime Hotel was the perfect start to our tour. It was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good - although on day two I did notice the Chinese dishes had changed but the labels were the same as the day before. This was mildly inconvenient in a strange culture where I am trying to avoid meat. Knowing I was a vegetarian our driver suggested a restaurant. Joe translated its name as "Merits and Rewards of the Forest". The food was fantastic - so good that on the last day we invited Joe and our driver to join us for a vegetarian meal at the same restaurant. They were both delighted to accept and we had another exquisite meal. Some of the big tourist lunch restaurants are a bit impersonal, so we were anxious to be more authentic in our choice of restaurant. Joe made sure we made the train for Xi’an. The whole carriage booking went wrong as the four tickets issued were in two different compartments - but Joe put everything right. We were sad to leave Joe.
In Xi’an our guide Dori met us promptly (as did every guide without fail). Dori looked after us so well making sure we always had the best service. She had words with anyone she felt was not giving us the proper service. Our trip to Xi’an was wonderful.
In Guillin and Yangshuo Lilly was perfect. She discussed a change of itinerary when Shangri-la proved to be very very busy. We loved both hotels. In Yangshuo we asked Lilly to show us how to order and eat in a noodle bar. This was great fun. Yangshuo was well-worth the detour. It was good to get away from the city for a while. The cycle ride with Lilly was really enjoyable.
In Shanghai, our guide and driver were, as usual, excellent and helped us complete an unforgettable holiday.

Dear Ivy and Tracy,
We had a wonderful tour and thank you for your excellent arrangements. I cannot thank you both enough. The saddest part of the tour was when I had to say goodbye. As I have said before, I will definitely use CTO again.
I will also be sending you more detailed reviews of the separate stages in our tour and hope that they will be useful. I must also thank you both personally, not only for the excellent arrangements but also for the personal interest you showed during the compilation of the itinerary and later by meeting us and providing us with a very memorable evening. The saddest part of our whole tour was having to say goodbye. I sincerely hope we will meet again and that we will be able to spend more time with you both. I will write to you both personally later this week.
Here I would like to review my trip as below:
All vehicles were clean and tidy. All had air conditioning. We had five different vehicles during the tour and there were no problems at all.
We felt that all drivers were excellent, drove carefully and considerately and were polite and courteous. Some had limited English but this never presented any problem.
Generally speaking, all guides spoke clearly and were polite and were able to be understood. Naturally there were differences and some were better than others, but there were no serious problems with any of the guides. I have given more detail in my separate stage by stage reviews.
We received at least two bottles of water per day. In some sections the amount varied and was not always two bottles per person per day but we always had sufficient.
We had no complaints about any particular restaurant. We were happy with all the food and service. Naturally some stood out as better than others and the guides had different methods of instructing the waiters as to what was required, some being better than others. Most guides returned to the table during the meal to check that everything was satisfactory. All restaurants were generally clean and tidy but some stood out as considerably better than others. All the food we were offered was good and there were always sufficient dishes to ensure that there would always be something we found suited our taste. There were no problems with any of the waiters or waitresses, all were polite and considerate and as would be expected, some were better than others. The restaurant which stood out as being most memorable as that in Yichang.
I would like to praise Ivy Lu and Tracy Liu for their unceasing patience and understanding whilst planning this tour and CTO for their kind consideration when I had initial difficulties in arranging payment.
I would also praise Linda in Yichang and Judy in Chongqing as being outstanding, each in their own way.

Dear Miss Sophia,
Thank you very much for arranging such a memorable trip for us. This is our first time to visit China and we extremely enjoyed the trip! All arrangements were in order. All the guides were friendly and helpful with good knowledge of their area, and their English was excellent. So they all made a great contribution to the success of our trip. Meanwhile, the drivers were very skilled and vehicles were clean and comfortable.
There were so many highlights in China, and we loved the itinerary of Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. We were wondered by the Great Wall, Forbidden City , Temple of Heaven, Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses etc.. What a pity that we just have seven days' trip. We enjoyed trying all the different food and found most of them are very tasty such as the Peking Duck Banquet in Beijing and the Dumpling Banquet in Xian. In Beijing we enjoyed the Chinese Peking Opera and Acrobatic Show and the Tang Dynasty Song and Dance was outstanding in Xian. I cannot express enough the feelings I had enjoying your culture.
We had wonderful hotels(Prime Hotel in Beijing and Grand New World Hotel in Xian). The hotels were decorated delicately, and all the staff at the hotel were helpful and courteous.
We would like to choose CTO again if we go to visit China in future . Overall, we were very impressed with your organization that gave us a memorable holiday. Our only real disappointment was the poor weather in Shanghai , but it did not influence our mood in the whole trip. Thank you for all your work on our behalf.

Dear friends at CTO,
Thank you very much for the wonderful trip organized by CTO, we were very pleased that we had two unforgettable weeks in China with you.
Initially when we took on your offer some of us in the group were not sure we are going to get a trip or what was on offer but they were pretty pleased when Nancy meet us at the beijing airport and the trip was was expected from the list. Good show. And I'd like to praise John Wu or Wu Chung in Mt. Huangshan, he is the best tour guide we had.
The hotels were very comfortable, the best one is the sheraton, the attendant was helpful and the palce is superb. Talking about food, like the country food after the walk from the great wall and the dinner in the town of Mt. Huangshan was unique and delicious at the old road restaurant. Highly recommended, others were ok.
The vehicles are quite clean and tidy with air-conditioners during the whole trip, and the tour guide sort all of them very well. We were very pleased the way they handle the situation. Even the climb in Mt. Huangshan, John changed the itinary because of the rain so the trip was not spoiled. Even English is not be the first language but the tour guides were able to give us a decent tour of the place. The bottles of mineral water did save us the trouble of getting a supply of water each day.
